Typical Timeline
Six Steps From Tired Oak to Showroom Finish
Remove & Label
Doors and drawer fronts come off, get labeled, and travel back to our spray shop. Boxes stay in place and get prepped on-site.
Clean & Degloss
Years of cooking grease and hand oils get removed with a degreaser, then surfaces are deglossed for paint adhesion.
Repair & Sand
Dings, dents, and gouges get filled and sanded smooth. Old hardware holes get filled if you're switching styles.
Bonding Primer
Cabinet-specific bonding primer that sticks to laminate, oak, maple, or whatever is currently on your cabinets.
Spray Finish
Two to three light coats of pigmented urethane or alkyd, sprayed for a perfectly smooth, factory-grade finish.
Reinstall & Walkthrough
Doors come back, hardware reinstalled, soft-close adjusted, and we walk through with you to confirm every detail.
Spray Finish vs. Brush
Brushed cabinets always look brushed — no matter how skilled the painter. Sprayed cabinets are perfectly smooth, with no brush marks, lap lines, or texture. It's the difference between "painted" and "refinished."
Color Options
Any color in any sheen. Most kitchens go white, off-white, or a deep navy or sage on lower cabinets. Two-tone (different colors upper vs. lower) is increasingly popular and we'll help you pick.

Cabinet Refinishing Questions
Most kitchens take 5–8 working days from start to finish. Boxes are usable (with doors off) after day two, and you have a fully reinstalled kitchen by the end of the second week.
Doors and drawer fronts are sprayed in our dust-free shop for a flawless finish. Cabinet boxes (the parts attached to walls) are prepped, primed, and finished on-site with proper containment.
Solid wood, MDF, and most laminates take refinishing extremely well. Thermofoil cabinets where the foil is peeling are not good candidates. We assess condition during the estimate.
Yes — many of our clients pair refinishing with new hardware, soft-close hinges, and updated knobs. We fill old hardware holes invisibly and drill the new pattern as part of the job.
Properly sprayed urethane or alkyd cures to a finish that's harder and more durable than typical brushed paint. Treated normally, expect 8–12 years before any noticeable wear in high-touch areas.
